a yoga center in freetown
edward’s dream
Born in the rural district of Kambia, Edward discovered yoga in 2015 and has since dedicated his life to teaching yoga, empowering communities, and sharing a practice that transforms lives. With enthusiasm and commitment, he teaches between 200 and 500 people a week in schools, villages, and neighborhoods. His classes are not only a space to improve physical well-being but also a refuge for emotional healing, offering tools to improve life for anyone who needs it.
Over the past five years, he has supported other Sierra Leoneans to become yoga teachers, enabling them to conduct yoga classes in their communities. He has trained them and covered transportation costs when necessary. With the income from yoga classes, he supports his family and sponsors four orphans from the city of Waterloo.
Edward is passionate about everything he does and chose to teach yoga because, in his own words:
"Yoga transformed my life physically, mentally, and emotionally. I never knew what family love was, but yoga makes me feel I belong and know what love is.
This is yoga: being a happy man today. Look, today I am a smiling man. This is yoga. People call me a life transformer. This is yoga!"
His mission is to educate, empower, and improve well-being through transformational yoga practices and tools, and through this, reduce stress, pain, depression, trauma, and anxiety.
His vision for the future is to create his own yoga studio in Freetown and form relationships with yoga institutions worldwide to continue bringing yoga to everyone who needs it.
Edward is more than a yoga teacher; he is an agent of change in Sierra Leone.
