our commitment to transparency

OUR MISSION: NURTURING THE WORLD ONE PERSON AT A TIME

Our Mission and Goals

Our mission is to support and guide yoga teachers and practitioners in Sierra Leone in achieving their goals by connecting their projects with individuals and organizations that can provide support. Through this local and international support network, we create a direct impact on their personal and community development, driving initiatives that transform lives.

Currently, we have three active pillars, profiles, or individual projects:

EDWARD’S YOGA CENTER

Its mission is to educate and empower through transformational yoga, enhancing well-being and alleviating stress, trauma, and anxiety. The vision is to establish a studio in Freetown and connect globally to bring yoga to those who need it most.

FRANCESS & SULCUT: THE PEACE AMBASSADORS

They bring yoga, art, and movement programs to vulnerable populations in Freetown, transforming the lives of young women in prostitution and people in prison. With a focus on sustainability, they aim to expand their reach and continue making a positive impact on their communities.

BABARDEE: THE FREEWILL PROJECT

This initiative aims to create yoga programs for homeless youth in central Freetown, helping them identify and manage stress so they can stay away from drugs, prostitution, and organized gangs, ultimately leading healthy and fulfilling lives.

At the Sierra Leone Yoga Project, we believe in accountability and transparency in everything we do. We are committed to providing a clear view of how we use resources and the impact we are making.

UsE OF FUNDS

Use of Funds

We are a non-profit organization legally based in Paris, France, as Ana, the association’s founder, resides in this country. A non-profit association is an entity that works towards a social, educational, cultural, or environmental goal without seeking financial profit. Instead of distributing earnings, it reinvests all income into its projects and activities to fulfill its mission and support the community.

What Does This Mean?

Every donation we receive is fully used to sustain the project and support the work in Sierra Leone. This includes:

  • Purchasing and shipping materials for beneficiaries when needed.

  • Saving funds for Edward’s Yoga Center.

  • Organizing events in Sierra Leone and Spain to raise awareness about the project and share yoga practices.

  • Covering administrative and operational costs.

At present, we do not have any paid staff—all those working to support Sierra Leone’s projects do so voluntarily. However, if possible, we aim to provide financial compensation to Sierra Leonean beneficiaries for their work, as improving their quality of life is one of our key goals.

Activities We Are Currently Funding

  • Registration fees for a two-day project management training for the four direct beneficiaries of the project (Edward, Babardee, Francess, and Sulcut):

    • €53 per participant, total: €212

  • Sponsorship of a dance and entertainment event at the women's prison in Freetown, including:

    • Purchase of materials (t-shirts, socks for running safely in the yard, etc.)

    • Transportation for workshop facilitators

    • Total: €100

  • Funding the first three months (November 2024, December 2024, and January 2025) of the homeless youth program in Murray Town, led by Babardee:

    • Total: €312
